Project Overview

Carried out as part of the Master's course in UX Design, this project aimed to answer a strategic question for D&G, a company in the dental field:

‍

“How could we support and delight customers through a better dental hygiene routine?”

‍

The goal was to conduct a comprehensive design thinking process to reveal the real needs of users, generate innovation opportunities, and then design a digital solution with added value, both for users and for the company's business model.

My Role and Collaboration

‍

My main contributions:

• Conducting semi-structured interviews with participants (typical company customers)
• Construction of a persona based on the insights collected
• Animation of design thinking workshops and co-creation
• Conducting creativity exercises with 6 Bono hats (vision, judgment, emotion, information, creativity, reflection)
• Production of a User journey modeling the target experience
• Co-design of the preliminary solution (mobile application concept)
• Final presentation of the concept with relationship

Design Problem

‍

“Ideal dental hygiene behaviors are difficult to maintain over the long term.”
‍

From a user perspective:

• Lack of motivation
• Unstructured routines
• Lack of clear guidelines
• Difficulty knowing which products to use and when
• Imperfect follow-up with the dentist

Company business goals:

• Contribute to the success of its partner clinics
• Increase online sales of D&G; dental products
• Position yourself as a leader in oral health, by focusing on education and online presence

The challenge: design a solution that truly improves the dental routine while creating strategic value for the business.

Research and Co-Creation

We carried out several activities to identify needs, motivations and irritants:

Design Thinking

• Structured thinking with 6 Bono hats, making it possible to juxtapose positive vision, factual data, intuition, emotions and critical judgment
• Divergence/convergence of ideas to explore a wide range of concepts

Co-Creation Workshop with Non-Design Students

Key insights:

• High demand for a simple support, fun and personalized
• Lack of references to good products to use
• Interest in tools that allow tangible progress and a motivating follow-up

Solution and Deliverables

‍

We designed a Mobile application concept focused on improving the dental hygiene routine, while strengthening the D&G business model.

‍

Key Features

• Gamified dental routine : points, badges, visual progression to reinforce adherence to best practices
• Smart logbook : monitoring habits, reminders, personalized advice according to the user's profile
• Integrated marketplace : recommendation and purchase of products adapted to the routine (strategic cross-sell for D&G)
• Interactive map of partner dentists : promotion of affiliated clinics → increase in traffic to partners
• Sharing data with your dentist : for more accurate and proactive monitoring of dental health

Results and Impact

Although conceptual, the project demonstrated:

• A strong Desirability on the part of the participants for a simple and fun digital solution
• A business opportunity and clear product vision for D&G

Conclusion & Learnings

‍

This project allowed me to:

• Deepen the mastery of Design Thinking applied to a real problem
• Develop my ability to articulate a product vision balancing: user value, business value, feasibility
• Structure a solution including interactions, partners and business opportunities

If I continued with this project, I would go to:

• An interactive prototype of the application
• User tests to validate the positive effects of gamification on the experience
• Further business analysis (revenue model, acquisition, retention)
